Yesterday the world got together to celebrate and commemorate those in the recording arts at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. People from all ages joined together through their love of music. While Sammy may not have won a Grammy last night, we celebrate his tremendous career, his extensive body of work and his ever-unbreakable spirit. Above all else, we celebrate his impact on those generations that have come, and will continue to come, after him.
Among the distinguished guests and nominees that were present at the ceremony, Sammy found himself amazed standing next toJoey Alexander, who was also nominated that evening for Best Improvised Jazz Solo for “Countdown.” At 93 and 13, the pair are the oldest and youngest nominees in attendance.
